We had a great time at our charity concert at Maldon Town Hall Theatre on Friday! This was the first time we had performed the full 2 hour theatre version of our show telling the story of Paul Simon’s career. Tickets sold out a month in advance and on the night we had a full house of just over 200 people whose standing ovation at the end confirmed they had clearly enjoyed the show! We are grateful to the Friern Manor Country Hotel and the London Vesta College for generously donating some superb raffle prizes. We organised the concert in memory of local singer-pianist-songwriter Dee Hepburn who died of a glioblastoma last autumn at the age of 42, and we are absolutely delighted that with your help we managed to raise £2,350 to help the work of the Brain Tumour Charity!
Pheonix FM
Colin and Paul were Michelle Ward’s guests on her ‘Eat My Brunch’ radio show on Pheonix FM local radio station earlier this week. It was great to have the opportunity to talk about the full Shades of Simon band and the forthcoming charity concert on 3rd Dec., their support for the Brain Tumour Charity, and of course, to play a couple of songs as a duo live on air…

Photoshoot
It’s taken a long time, but at last we’ve discarded the COVID face masks and done a band photoshoot! We descended on Hylands Park Chelmsford with our tame photographer Rick Gill and had a lot of fun – and the end result is that we now have a selection of photos of the band in the Gallery section of our website. Do take a look! More
Newsletter no.1
Now that the end of lockdown is in sight and the band can come out of hibernation, we thought now would be a good time to publish our first band newsletter! If you’ve already signed up you should have by now received your copy by email. If not, simply sign up with your email address on the Contact page on the website and we’ll add you to the mailing list. Apart from being able to read loads of news and information about the band we hope in due course to also be able to offer our supporters priority booking for our gigs, discounts on band merchandise, and invitations to events where you’ll be able to get to know members of the band better. Band no longer banned
Absolutely fantastic news for us as a band! 6 people will be allowed to meet indoors from 17th May 2021 – so we’ve booked our rehearsal room ready for the 18th! It’ll be great to be able to play together again as a real live band! Just need some news now on when music venues will be allowed to reopen so we can share our music with you…
